Things I’m Loving Right Now…

I feel like there is lots of exciting things happening in the world of Bella and Bhakti right now! Winter always feels like a wonderful time for productivity and creation! Ive been doing lots of research and writing, lots of connecting and sourcing! In the process I’ve come across some fabulous things that I thought I would like to share with you! Its always inspiring to see so many new organic/vegan/gluten free/fairtrade goodies and services popping up all over the place and becoming more mainstream. I am continually thrilled as I meet people who are educating themselves on how to live healthy sustainable lifestyles and even if its just small changes like beginning to make homemade almond milk, every little change is for the better!

So here are a few things I am enjoying in my world right now…

‘The Healing Feeling’ By Samantha Gowing.

Samantha’s book is a new staple in my basket. Its one of those books that you can pick up and read anywhere, flicking to any page and getting clued in on something fabulously healthy, whether it be about probiotic foods or a recipe for Beetroot, Pomegranate and Rosewater Salad. This book is full of easy, digestible information that aims to speak to everyone and make your world (external and internal) all that much brighter. If you are looking for tips on how to live a healthier life or how to improve your diet but you are unsure where to start, this fabulous book will have you whipping up raw desserts and making your own home remedies in no time! As a qualified nutritionist and spa chef, Sam combines healthy living with vital information to help you make the best decisions for your own health and those you love. You can find the book in good bookstores around the country or download the e-book version on the website here…

Byron Bay Tempeh

Speaking of healthy eating and happy digestion, we are so lucky here in Byron Bay to have access to the most delicious and nutritious soy-free, organic, fermented, home made tempeh! Sold at the local farmers’ markets and health food stores, Sarah’s tempeh is made using state of the art technology and the highest quality Australian ingredients to create a product that is so unique and so different from any store bought soy-based tempeh that you won’t ever return to any other brand again! Byron Bay Tempeh is gluten free, vegan, non GMO and contains no additives, flavours or preservatives. Available in two flavours – Fava Bean & Wakame or Chickpea – you can use this tempeh the way you would in any tempeh or tofu recipes. For some great ideas check out their Facebook page! Distribution is extending as news of this amazing product spreads so keep your eye out for it at a health food store near you!

The Vegan Box

This is such a brilliant idea. My beautiful partner signed me up for the Vegan Box which arrives monthly at your doorstep and is filled with brand new vegan goodies for you to try! This month had everything from seaweed snacks to a new raw banana pie-flavoured lip balm to chocolate coated cranberries to raw flaxseed crackers! Everything was delicious (yes, even the lip balm!) and its a great way to try new products and get clued up to what is on the market. It is a great gift for someone you love, especially by showing them that eating healthy vegan food isn’t all about carrots and apples! Check it out and order your July box now!

Patagonia Winter Warmers

Patagonia just opened their doors in Byron Bay this year and until then, I thought they were just like any other outdoors clothing and accessory shop. But I couldn’t have been more incorrect! Patagonia’s mission is to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of our planet. They donate their time, services and at least 1% of all their sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups all over the world who work to help reverse the tide. They travel the globe in search of the best materials for their extensive product range and use processes that are less harmful to the Earth without compromising quality. Ive always been one of those people who shivers through Winter because of my lack of good winter clothing! I think layer upon layer of thin material will do the trick but now that I have been introduced to proper fabric and insulation, theres really no going back! I was lovingly gifted one of Patagonia’s Cloud Hoody’s and it has kept me warm and toasty (on occasions too toasty!) on these chilly winter mornings before the sun appears. So, do yourself, and our beautiful planet, a favour and invest in some good quality winter woolies – they ship worldwide so if you don’t have a store near you do not fear!

Loving Earth White Mulberries

I could spend time reviewing any product on the Loving Earth website because in all honesty, I do adore everything they sell. From their superfoods to their activated nuts to their deluxe buckinis (an all-time fav!) to their healthy chocolate bars, these guys really know how to offer nourishment in a delicious way! Their white mulberries have become a favourite snack of mine for on-the-run. They are less sweet than most dried fruit and have a low GI so their energy will last you longer! Grown in Turkey, the mulberries are traditionally harvested by hand and sun dried to encapsulate their natural sugars. White Mulberries serve to “tonify” the blood as well as being a great source of protein, iron, calcium, vitamin K, C, A, B6 and E, fibre, potassium, niacin, riboflavin, folic acid, manganese, magnesium and antioxidants. They are fabulous alone or paired with Loving Earth’s activated pepitas! I also love them sprinkled on top of green smoothies or stirred through chia seed pudding.
